Stuck in a Race

We wake up in the mornin
With a frown on our face
Not even realizing
We're just stuck in a race.

We do the same routine
Just about every day
Nothing slightly diferent
Too scared to change our way.

Money has become our life
Fame has become our best friend
Worried about what to wear
Looking for the next new trend.

But what ever happend
To what really mattered
Back in the day
No one cared to be flattered.

It was just a matter of
The person you loved most
Spending your life in happieness
Living your dream on the coast.

But what does that mean now
I guarantee to most, nothing at all
We walk through the day weighted
And every other step we fall.

Only a few of us hide
What shouldnt be held
They think we can handle anything
When in reality, we always repelled.

    Very good piece,
I liked the metaphors, and the rhymes were nice, sometimes they seemed a little forced as the ending didn't seem right in some way, that last stanza just didn't fit to my eyes

However, I like the tone and the meaning, Money is the centre of much these days with the current financial situation

    This poem is awesome!

I love the meaning behind this poem. It is so true and I think we've all become like robots trying to make ends meet.

I guess we've all forgotten what's really important in life. You have put that in perspective well in your poem

    Money has become our life
Fame has become our best friend
    Worried about what to wear
Looking for the next new trend.

    But what ever happend
    To what really mattered
    Back in the day

I love these two stanzas. Very powerfull
