Stars And Cliche Speeches

by xoxShorteexox   Nov 22, 2011

You're so much more than she let you believe,
you're the man that girls dream about meeting.
You could have just been my ideal white knight,
everything changed when you entered my life.

I felt a sense of security and understanding,
it overwhelmed me with happiness and smiles.
I tried to explain this to you so many times,
but the timing always seemed to be wrong.

When the words finally fell from my mouth,
you gave me the cliche friends speech.
I'm not sure which hurt the most of all,
the way you said it or the feeling of defeat.

Friendships are worth a thousand pages,
but love stories always seem neverending.
I stared at the stars with a wondering mind,
thoughts of you laying besides me in the grass.

When my mind stopped the daydreams,
my cheeks were stained with invisible lines.
After the speech, everything changed,
you seemed distant and I felt so lost.

Now that our friendship is lying on the line,
I've hid my feelings away again for a rainy day.
I still lay in the grass staring at the stars,
with only one laying impression in the grass.

This is a beautiful poem. Finally being able to tell him your feelings and not getting what you expected. Now the friendship being different, since your true feelings out there not hidden anymore. This shows how much he means to you & how much you wish it could have been.
