Secrets In A Friendship

by xoxShorteexox   Nov 22, 2011

I held this secret in for two years,
trying to hide it from you for so long.
I hoped one day to have the strength,
to tell you the secret I've held deep inside.

I watched your hands intertwined in hers,
for over a year and it makes my heart drop.

Our friendship started to slip away from us,
left with the memories of the laughs and jokes.
Lying awake at night letting the tears just fall,
staining pillows with the words I never said.

You thought that those feelings vanished,
but they remained inside this whole time.

Now that she's left you with no heart,
my secret is slowly sliding out of my lips.
I've loved you since the first day we met,
I wanted to say yes when you asked.

I couldn't accept the invitation you offered,
sometimes a friendship is too good to risk.

I'm thinking about all the pain I could have stopped,
just by using one word to prevent this disaster.
Here I am crying once again for the heart; the spirit,
that she took with her and the insecurity left behind.

The pieces of you that are missing are precious,
they're the parts that defined our past friendship...

I'm thinking about all the pain I could have stopped,

Here I am crying once again for the heart; the spirit,
-this shows how much you regret saying yes, & how you wish he wasn't hurt.

This is the sweetest poem. I can see it playing it. Him hurting & all you want to do is heal his heart back together and be with him. Pain & sadness fill this poem.
