The Greatest Gift

by Owain   Nov 25, 2011

She fills her life with drama when peace is what she needs

Her heart and body broken by acts of men's base deeds.

She seeks out men who use her, reinforcing how she feels

It justifies her hardened heart but never helps her heal.

One day she finally meets a man who loves without condition

She can't accept his love, her heart just cannot listen.

She looks for non existent problems and pushes him away

She knows she'll have to leave him cause she knows he'll always stay.

So off she goes to build her life with yet another man

Trying to convince herself this time that he will understand.

It may work, it may be, that he's the one for her

That cowboy on his golden horse wearing golden spurs

And if it does, and if he is, then her heart may finally heal

But if it doesn't and if he's not, then on she goes around the wheel.

Some day, somehow, she'll realize her heart is on the mend

And she can finally accept true love and peace will come again.

He may be there, he may have passed, his body not around

But his love without condition is ever to be found.

And in her heart she'll realize the love that she has missed

Is still there for her, though he is not, and was his greatest gift
