Dolorosa II

by Michael D Nalley   Nov 27, 2011

Red roses have a beauty
their stems bear sharp thorns.
Some angels wear white wings,
those fallen down grow horns.

Beauty is among great things
possessed by pretty flowers.
Nature has its bounty,
while heaven weeps with showers.

A family in genus Rosa
in the garden of Gethsemani,
and a path of the Dolorosa
inspired us to pray a Rosary.
Blood runs red, or so it's said
among heavenly blue "Morning Glories"
from the dead, after it is shed
according to beautiful bible stories.

Sorrow has no hold where love has no end.
Light travels quickly where darkness must wait.
Joy to the world, contrition is our friend .
We hope to meet again just beyond life's gate

*There is a lay cemetary in The Abby of our Lady of Gethsemani Trappist Ky where many of my ancestors
rest who I am sure walked a path of Dolorosa in the hopes of reaching The Garden of Paradise

I would like to dedicate this poem to my sister Doroles Rose and the many great nephews and neices that she left and also those who are with her

I seem to find sadness in pieces, among the words, the beauty is evident, a really well written piece

Wow, Michael, this poem is so beautiful. I love the imagery you created, especially through nature, I think nature poems are really moving, because of the usual deep meaning behind it.
The last stanza was a perfect ending. I love it!!!
    Great job :)

Loved it, and I'm sorry for your loss. I really liked the last stanza, especially:

Sorrow has no hold where love has no end.

I was thinking to leave my thoughts about this poem but I seriously can't do so because I see it as a masterpiece. There is just so much I can say from this piece but I will restrain myself. It just that so many images come to my mind.

    Nominated!.
