Stronger Than Skeletons (Rap).

by Poet on the Piano   Nov 30, 2011

Don't you fear the need to be ordinary
Stop looking around and see they
won't call you miss fairy,
'cause you gotta get out, you gotta jump down
take your face away from that chokin' gown
that drags you in the palace all day round....
The riches tearing who you are
forcing you to look like some model star
when deep down you're just lost
like a lover who's crossed
unknown lands trying to find solid ground
when all you hear is that savage sound
that's you, you know, from removing yourself
from what you're supposed to feed on, time after time
you inhale the lie
like the swan princess who's heart was conned.
It won't end 'til you leave the runway
take a breath and start to disobey
the others who are telling you to walk so fast,
and live harrassed, a monster now gassed
who here will be the first to last?

Don't you fear the need to look in the darkness
it's time to step over this extreme starkness
bringing you closer to applause of death
where every red-stained breath
can't let you back, can't give you air
it's no longer what you need, you rely
on these affairs, when you look at every angle
and you're strutting in despair
shatter the mirror, open your hands
see the blood running through you
and what it demands.
There can be no reflection until you
give your own self-protection and instead of
pill after pill
hourly sessions for your stomach to drill
and your body to throw away all you gained
from this gift of life,
don't let it slaughter your will like
a fallin' knife.
You better than this, no pressure to show
just take each day don't sink below
and soon you'll see all you have inside
to bestow. Your heart beats, it still
weeps, but you're building up from
all you refused yourself and
soon you'll realize you are not underused,
you are heaven's loved one
you can overcome this feeling of being undone
and help your thoughts not take
to that pounding gun.

My first rap I've actually been serious about and tested the rhythm out. Still working on it but I wanted the message to be strong and try the style.
