Black and White

by No1ButMe   Dec 5, 2011

The world is black and white
There is a heaven and a hell
And to buy this razor
My soul I had to sell
Either good or evil
Angel or devil
Sinner or saint
Innocent or rebel
I long ago chose my path
Hitting every thorn on the way
Drenched by the rain
Never see the light of day
Always to be wrong
Crazy, so I'm told
Never to fit in
Always break the mold
Outcast have been labeled
Said to never smile
Cutter, bipolar, nuts
All added to my file
Locked in a cage
Like the animal I am
Dare to be different
But they'll never understand
Marks all over my body
Telling of stories I'll never say
Living in this world of black and white
While searching for the gray.

I have to agre here with Lioness, parts of the poem are so affective....dark, but stirring. Especially the first 2 and the last 2 lines:

The world is black and white
There is a heaven and a hell

Living in this world of black and white
    While searching for the gray.

We all have to find that elusive happy medium in between, the one in which we can live in with some comfort. Emotions, dark, but well wrung.

I really do love this poem full of dark emotions. I can feel every word as I am reading each line.

I love the rhyming of this poem. I think it's flawless and everything fits into place.

I love that this poem tells a little story about what you go through each day - what you suffer from and how other people react. How they call you names like "crazy" etc.

I have to say the first four lines and last four are so powerful. The last two being my favourite. Trying to live in a black and white world and looking for the gray.

Things aren't always simple as black and white in life and I think you have portrayed this very well in the poem.

    A well write hun
