My Prayer Is For...

My first prayer is for...
the man who's too scared to risk
anything that could put him in harm
the ability to love someone so truly
letting her just sit there all alone
to protect himself from being attached.

My second prayer is for...
the girl who tried to show him love
but always got pushed away each time
opening her heart proving she meant no harm
wishing he'd just see how much he means
to her; the one that keeps trying to push back.

My third prayer is for...
for the preacher who got attached to the bottle
kept showing up on Sunday drunk to the alter
slurring his words and vomitting on his clothes
allowing his weakness to be so clearly shown
to the lord and his sheep he let run astray.

My last prayer is for...
for the single mother who's overworked everyday
that she can remain strong for her children; herself
desiring just to have a little bit of help from someone
working long days and nights with a babysit to pay
and the kids crying that they never see their mother.
