Puppies' Desires

All I wanted was for you to hold me close,
let me lay beside you, snuggling softly.

All I wanted was for you to scratch behind my ears,
with my leg jumping up and down with delightful joy.

All I wanted was for you to feed me good food,
giving me fresh water to help keep me alive.

All I wanted was security and a loving master,
who would play with me and cling to me for comfort

All I wanted was a home, a warm bed and love,
how could you beat me and force me to fight?

This is my poem as an outcry on the abuse of animals all across the world. I'm one of the people who will stand up and sign all the petitions that it takes to protect any animal. How would you feel if this was all you wanted and someone beat you and forced you to fight to the death?

    I'm 100% against animal abuse!
    I hate it. The people who do it disgust me.

    This is such a cute sad poem. Showing the only thing animals ever really want is to be loved & cared for. Not the complete opposite.

    I agree to the message of this, animal abuse is something that shouldn't be tolerated.
    I think that the poem itself was quite interesting as it is too because of the position you wrote this in. I like the use of repetition, it gives this a lullaby tone , which underlines animals innocence and that it shouldn't be taken from them. Heather, I really enjoy reading your poems and you're definately on my favorites list now! :) Keep up writing.
