Of Dreams and Nightmares [vent]

In a society that encourages you to dream
I will aspire to everything I can.
be successful in any way,
better than the rest.
the reality is that you are just an ant.
another brick in the wall
sealed to your fate of mediocrity.

Reality is a buzz kill;
the wake-up alarm you never want to go off.
images of pleasantries and happiness
but only when you sleep.
awaken to the slavery drone of social obscurity
I try to make my meaningless life
mean something to someone else.
maybe then, i will find my place
my purpose
my worth

I'm not one to awaken others from their fantasies.
I am not so cruel. Reality is the truth...
and the truth is cold. I will not have their happiness fade
like it did from me.

That dream of happiness still haunts me.
How I wish to erase this discovery.
I wish to be blissful and happy, ignorant to the truth
There has to be more to life than this.
There has to be more to everything I thought exists.

    At times the truth does hurt us but that is part of life. We have to look for more, not be content with the way things are.
