Ten Dollars

by believeinlove87   Dec 13, 2011

Deserted alone,
left with ten dollars in her pocket,
watching as her parents walk away,
leaving her behind, she starts screaming
" No, Don't leave me here! "

Hiding behind a bench at the bus station,
curled up into a ball bawling her eyes out,
repeatedly whispering to herself
"Mom and Dad left me, they don't love me,"
left alone in this world, with a mere ten dollars.

Hit, Slapped, Abused all the time,
eventually she got used to feeling this pain,
when daddy picked up that wooden paddle,
as her face transformed into a fear stricken expression,
she awaited the very beating she got every day
as she silently got locked into a tiny dark closet.

Deserted alone,
begging for them back, she won't cry anymore she says,
tears pouring out her eyes,
looking at every last bruise, every scratch she has,
hidden behind a bench, alone for good she sees,
left with ten dollars in her pocket,
and no where to go.

As she drifts off to sleep,
her last words before her eyes close
" Mommy & Daddy don't love me. "
