Your Memory on this Road of Solitude

by NightFlyer   Dec 14, 2011

Distant lover,
Cast your mournful spell across the evening's cold
On this road I glide, past shuttered homes
The glare of street lights play across the shadows
I feel your embrace, though miles away you lie,
Cross the unforgiving silence
Pine branches, like a tapestry
Above this road that goes nowhere
Across the vault of haunted sky that shines its stars through the branches
Piercing me in desolation as I gaze upward
The scent of pine and smoke, embracing me in my solitude
Like your memory ,
Guiding me back through the amethyst night.

Damn, this is a haunting piece. Although it may create or merely seem to create a dark gloomy atmosphere.

It is more about restoring the diminishing love or the fading love, due to the space/distance created by time and fate. Where, the two lovers are separated due to certain circumstances and are eager to reunite.

The poet awaits with a hope that, their paths soon will cross and that, they might collide on the streets and rejoice as lovers and comfort each other until their final sleep.

Or, the poem could actually indicate the demise of the lover, for he/she has turned distant and the author feels their presence in the form of a cold breeze.

Hmmm. . I cant pin point with precision. Nonetheless, I love the poem. The context is mesmerizing.
