Of All The Things You Could Be

by Melissa   Dec 15, 2011

It's no mystery loving a man
who behaves like the moon,
his vacant air of sound
enough to hang you

It's all an illusion, he winks
with illuminating purpose

but I keep falling, like a crazed star
before that crescent smile
and it feels far too nauseating
to be carelessly casted
as naught

I love what you have written here.

The man behaving like the moon. Not always around but also the moon controls the tides - I keep thinking he controls you and your emotions.

but I keep falling, like a crazed star
    before that crescent smile
and it feels far too nauseating
    to be carelessly casted
    as naught

I love the last stanza - to say that he treats you like you are nothing. Amazingly written.

Ohhhh wow. The moon is always there, but distant in the day time, and so strong and bright in the night time. I instantly laughed because I thought of a booty call, but I feel there is just so much more to the story than this. How two lines can make me think so much...wow.

Your couplet there just breaks my heart. The ever knowing player, he can charm the pants right off of anyone.

I like how you kept up with the metaphor of moon/stars, but did it in such a different way, it wasn't cliche to me at all. Your ending added a bit of humor but also so much realism to the piece. Wonderfully done and nominated. :)
