Self control

by Yakari Gabriel   Dec 17, 2011

I stare at the
keyboard,
for ages...

how
inviting it seems,
the mouse
whispers lullabies
fooling my thoughts
for perhaps three minutes..

I click,
a new tab,
a new feeling
to compose
a new email.

I hear it,
that voice,
it tells me that
there is chance you might
reply,

and I ponder,
ponder and ponder..

why risk myself
to your ice-covered
lies,your winter-filled
replies..

when,
I'm perfectly warm
under my blanket..

I know better this time.

Another great write. This one touched me in a way your other poem didn't. This really pulled at my heart strings and I connected with it. I read this as a love poem and it seemed to be about wanting to connect with someone yet knowing better inside because they have treated you badly in the past. A powerful poem.

I really enjoyed this. It was so calm and soothing with a quick edge of melancholy.

The personification of the mouse was a nice touch. Its one of my favorite attributes in poetry.

    "why risk myself
    to your ice-covered
    lies,your winter-filled
    replies"

Loved loved loved those lines! Impeccable flow throughout the entire piece and so much emotion!!!
    Great job!
