Daddy's Girl

by beapolkadot   Dec 27, 2011

Fathers: Now that's a complicated issue
Let's talk about father's Day
Let's talk about little girls crying themselves
to sleep because "Daddy" didn't love her
"Daddy" didn't wanna hold her hand
lift her up on his shoulders
and tell her she's "Daddy's" little girl
Let's talk about step-dads who don't care
with dark shady eyes that claim
You aren't anything.
Let's talk about how I'll have to ask my mother
to walk me down the aisle
My pale white veil lifted by her shaky hands
Telling me goodbye for the man
who already left.
Yeah, fathers are a complicated issue.
Let's talk about fathers
about pain and triumph
hope and depression
No. I don't wanna talk about fathers.
I'm not over that yet.
