New Years Past

by Michael D Nalley   Dec 30, 2011

The year before my sobrity
seemed a bit lacking in piety.
To think it began with a toast
to a drunken unholy ghost,
yet the night in jail
held without any bail
created the desire to quit.
and the will to stick to it.
For at least a little while
I would change my style
I found it easier to talk the talk
more so than to walk the walk
I will always be inept
until I reach the twelfth step
trying to share everyday
looking at the years a new way

Alltogether this poem has held a really good meaning. Started with an ease and ended in peace, lol

Ok, I have a minor suggestion if I may.
    "until the twelfth step"
    Could be like
"until I reach the twelfth step"

But thats only a suggestion from my humble opinion :)
