When you ran away

by Guinevere   Dec 31, 2011

I woke up in the morning,
To hear my mum in tears.
You had gone, packed your bags,
And taken all your things.

I walked into your room, where we used to laugh and talk,
It was empty, your sheets gone, your clothes cleared off the floor.

I called out your name, expecting to hear your cheery voice,
But all I heard was that loud piercing silence.

I asked where you were, "where did my sister go"?
Noone knew, only you, you were out there somewhere alone.
as young as you were, out in the world, on a plane
You were running away.

Every night, I'd worry, I'd cry myself to sleep.
Where were you that night, had you had something to eat?
Everything I wanted to know was left as a question,
All I knew is I wanted to find you, I wanted my sister back.

I rang and rang your mobile, praying you would answer,
I changed my number so you wouldn't recognize it was me.
Every day I tried, as months and months went by,
Praying for the day I'd see you, Hoping you were fine.

Finally that day came, and you were hurt and scared,
They doctors said they had to operate,
And we flew to hold your hand.
I remember seeing you there, lying on the hospital bed,
Why did you runaway, home wasn't Evan that bad.

we prayed and prayed for a miracle,
And god did answer our prayers.
My sister did survive, and now she's home in all our care.

Everyday, I smile now, when I see her by my side,
I thank god every day, for bringing her back to me,
My sister, my bestfriend.
