My old green world

by gilda   Jan 5, 2012

I hear cries, above me lies
the sound of sweetness hovering the skies;
i wonder then why they are
singing songs of hope for everyone.

i look down then
and find the earth,
with sadness in my thoughts,
of what shall lie ahead?

and try i did to look back again,
from where i came i remember bounty then.
the greens were there as if to me smiling,
with an invitation to lavish its presence.

with sadness my eyes drew me around,
to witness devastation on my grounds.
tears had to fall, i never was able to control,
as i hear howls from every wall.

questions came up from my worried head;
a hiatus mind that can't comprehend.
weariness starts to fall on my tired self,
how can this happen to my beloved earth?

destruction and devastation, a picture i saw;
O please tell me this can't be so,
not to me, not to you,
not to my old green world that serves so true.
