Narcissus Vanity

by Maple Tree   Jan 11, 2012

Ivory goddess lay rigid, amongst a trail of emerald leaves

pale, limp, fingers gripping a narcissus bulb against her bosom

sacrificing her own breath, just to love the man in the mirror

demonic passion sang in his eyes, poisonous kisses devoured her soul

before she could grip his pulsating heart, to join as one

he banished her to die alone, where the owls become her angels

for his vanity became legend, walking away from her for all eternity

remembering her as a beauty, instead of a demonic flower

In death is beauty, passion of the lost souls forever remains a mystery.

I loved that line. It really makes the reader sense the evil that is in this relationship. Your word choice was great here!

Your last line was very intriguing and almost a little gut wrenching! I loved it!
