I Made It Through

by Emily Strickland   Jun 25, 2004

I Used To Be That Girl
The One Who's Always Sad
And Everything In My Life
Always Seemed To Go Bad

I Used To Be That One
Who Would Always Run And Hide
Never Letting Anyone Get To Close
Always Pushing People Aside

Staying Up Late At Night
Sitting In My Room And Crying
Wishing I Didn't Feel So Much Pain
Inside I Was Slowly Dying

Then I Realized I Needed To Stop
If I Just Looked At All The Good
Instead Of Focusing On All The Bad
Then There Was A Chance I Could

I Took A Look Around
At Everything I Had
Lots Of Friends Always There For Me
A Great Mom, Sister And Dad

Thats When I Realized
If I Didn't Soon Stop
One Day I Might Wake Up
And Loose Everything I Got

I Looked Deep Down Inside
And Looked A Little Closer At Me
Thats When I Started Seeing
Things I Was Unable To See

I Found Myself A New Me
A Girl Who Could Finally Smile
With A Great Personality
Things I Hadn't Seen In A While

Things Started To Get Better
Soon I Could Finally Laugh
I Started Over New
And Left Everything In The Past

My Heart Has Now Been Mended
I Have No Reasons To Cry
I No Longer Dwell On The Past
The Sad Me Has Said Goodbye

Now There's Finally Hope
And I Can Let People In
The Battle Of Depression Is Over
And This Time I Win!
