Not about me, but them...

by Matthew Schut   Jan 12, 2012

As my world came crashing down,
so many things have changed,
the passion I once cherished,
has been suddenly taken away.

My life is on hold for a while,
there are things to be worked out,
not sure where I will end up,
but certain it will be worth it.

What once was my biggest fear,
has now become my reality,
I sit waiting to find out,
wishing I could change it.

But as I wipe the tears from my eyes,
and try to pick myself up off the floor,
I can't help but think of others,
and the things they are going through.

There are many other people,
that have it worse than I do,
so why must I be swallowed by guilt,
and not being able to breath.

So I will pick myself back up,
put a huge smile on my face,
knowing that others need my help,
and I will give them a lending hand.

Matt to the rescue! (: haha, anyway. Brilliantly written; I know that feeling when I walk by people who look so down on their luck and I feel... Changed on a bad day just by imagining the reasoning they look ready to give up.

Awww Matt this is such a great, inspiring poem!!

I like how it started out sad and real... you expressed raw emotions, things that people can relate to, hitting rock bottom... but I love that you ended it positively, and how we need to pick ourselves up when bad things happen, because there really are people are living worse and their lives are much more difficult! We should always be thankful for what we have :)

Thank you for inspiring me with this poem! Great job! =D
