It was thought to cover the shame of ugliness.
"Oh beautiful mask," people would call,
"Come sweep away my shame and add beauty to me."
The mask was not to cover a few flaws,
It was used on those who thought they were too gorgeous to go unhidden.
A mask of such beauty used as a disguise for selfish faces.
Who would have thought that the mask of beauty was really a mask of selfishness?
