Why do we dwell on yesterday,
Is like asking, Why do we hurt?
We're standing in the present,
Makeing choices,
Hurting others and ourselves,
We're confused and worried,
About who we are,
And are we good enough?
We're dwelling on yesterday,
Because we can't decide on today,
We're looking in the past,
For knowledge and understanding,
And trying to base today,
Off of yesterday's experiences,
We're hurting ourselves,
Makeing ourselves bleed and cry,
And using a pillow to soak up the tears,
Because we drag yesterday with us,
As a second shadow,
Influencing us today,
Maybe we're just scared or afraid,
Not knowing who to trust or what to say,
Because sometime all you have is yesterday,
When there wasn't so much pain.
