Can I?

by Tomiladeo Seun   Jan 24, 2012

It's all I know how to do
It's all that I have always done
It's what makes me feel alive and special
But can I actually do it in a special way?

Nothing else sees my best
It can always take me away from my rest
It is a fire that burns within my breast,
But can I be the best with it?

Because of it I have dreamed of greatness.
My pen writing my name in the halls of fame,
Taking me to heights unimaginable,
But can I fly with it?

My heart seems empty without it
My person feels useless not having it
My life is directionless without it,
But can I live the fullness of my life by it?

Certainty has always accompanied it
I have always thought that I was made for it
However, it now seems just primary
Or can I actually become it?

What if I was not made for it?
What if it was not made to make me?
What if there is something else out there for me?
Can I be strong to leave it for another?

Everlasting, when I wrote this piece, thoughts of any girl or love were far away from my mind. When i wrote this,I was seriously doubting my ability to write. You are quite discerning though.

    Uhmm.. Interesting piece.
It kept me reading and I was in search for that thing that the author was referring, I like it that the author didn't quietly state it in the poem or atleast I couldn't find it. But for some reason Im thinking the author refers to love.. May be.. I can't think of anything else.
This sounds like a riddle or rather the thoughts of te author.. Like she loves me then no she doesn't then she loves but she doesn't.. Kind of like that.. I think he is not sure if he can still be him after not feeling love anymore..

Or on second thoughts, it could be about ambitions or motivations... The lack of having them..

I guess it will depend on how one reads it.
