Queen of the Fair

Queen of the Fair

Pretty as she can be
she is the Queen of the county fair
a beautiful swine is her prize
trots towards her like a derby horse

She is the envy of many
some wonder if that lipstick better suites the swine
others ponder whether those big earrings hang better on the tail
nevertheless mom is very proud
and shows it with her big rump on the dance floor

The local paper proclaims the news
with a picture of the winner and her prize
dare you ask: which one is the queen?

The town celebrates at her home
as dad prepares the meal
that smell is too familiar
so the swine stays away
pork barbecue is not his taste
and seeks safe haven in the barn

Deep thoughts cross his mind
will she love me like her dog Bo
will she buy me a new collar from the store
will I cuddle with the family when cold
or will dad think of me as his next main course

Let's hear it for the Queen and her prize
