Taken For Granted

by Liz Hogan   Jan 28, 2012

My soul wonders the earth lonely,
Only to be found by that special someone,
Cause my heart is taken hostage already,
And sometimes I wonder If I'm ever ready for this place we call our world,
Only to hear that kids are starving everyday
But yet we take things for granted because we want things to go our way,
We should be lucky because we get three meals a day,
But what about the unlucky ones that have nothing or little to eat at all,
They don't worry about their appearance or image,
But you tell us that and we're ready to go shopping and hit up the mall,
Doesn't that make us a little selfish above it all,
It's clear you see we have so much freedom than others,
But we abuse and misused our education,
Because nobody wants to learn and the ones that do always get interrupted,
Yet we could have the smartest people in the world,
So people become stupid and all we hear about is crime and kids being abducted,
But yet everyone wants to live in this great nation,
I dont see why they choose to live the way we live,
Cause just listening to this everyday seems like another radio station,
But after awhile the same stories get boring and old
And all the missing person's case crimes become cold
