May your fire become my flame

by TJ Arizona Eagle   Jan 30, 2012

Stars dance silently with billowing clouds of white,
moon hums a lullaby to the sleepy night.
Fledglings are gathered, tucked safe in their nest.
Nestled in folded wings, parents vigilantly protect.

Crickets tune their fiddles, melodically begin to play.
Lightening bugs begin to boast a magical display.
Puffed up frogs on lily pads jump and croak a song.
A Symphony just for us while waiting on the dawn.

Hands entwined we walked along natures carpet at our feet.
Encouragement was whispered for this moment so elite.
As we kissed, the night stood still, silence thick in the air.
We bore our souls before the night eternity declared.

Healing rains began to fall, steam rising from the ground.
A gentle breeze caressed the mist glistening all around.
Lay me down on a mossy bed let your fire become my flame.
Trees supplied seclusion our love was then proclaimed

Wow! What a beautiful romantic love poem.... with beautiful nature imagery. You blew me away with your words and lovely metaphors... I love how you painted the scene before telling the 'love story.'

I love every word, but this stanza was so special to me:

"Crickets tune their fiddles, melodically begin to play.
Lightening bugs begin to boast a magical display.
Puffed up frogs on lily pads jump and croak a song.
A Symphony just for us while waiting on the dawn."

I love this stanza as well:

"Hands entwined we walked along natures carpet at our feet.
Encouragement was whispered for this moment so elite.
As we kissed, the night stood still, silence thick in the air.
We bore our souls before the night eternity declared."

I really love the title as well... I like how it's not obvious in what the poem is about. It was very well written!

    Great job!! Beautiful poem <3

This is beautiful. Nature is a big part of your life and you have woven it in a wonderful love poem, full of emotion, love, tenderness. You do have a way with words that touches the readers heart. You haven't lost your touch at all. Well done.
