Snake

by Yakari Gabriel   Feb 3, 2012

This may not sound
poetic,

but spending my days
with a one-year-old,
has taught me that silence
is a tricky thing.

its a snitch,
a snake of many heads
that sleeps beneath my pillow.

its poisonous
and bipolar.

At days,
it wakes with a stillness-
a serenity so pure
it melts my heart into
an ever flowing, ever changing
ocean.

on others
It crawls the wall,
(I don't know how it
defies gravity)

it hides,
beneath my ears
and wakes
me from a daydream,
to then dance around my neck..

and just went it becomes
flattering,
when my eyes give in,
when I too, get in the mood
to step upon the melody

It chokes me-

To remind me,
That I can't trust anything

In this world of mine.
