For you that bind me

by Timothy   Feb 3, 2012

Okay.
I promised, I told you I'd try
to cut the cord, to learn to fly,
before delaying to meet again
my friend, to you, this letter will send:
for paper gulls and midnight beaches,
your fingers on mine, you wheeze, take pictures
just like your bloodless smile.

Nonetheless,
you struggle to ignore this cliff,
and when your toe slips, I'll cape your drift
whilst difficulty sits on warfare cry
as we always knew we were going to die.
I always felt the urge to warm
your bony hands that were laborious, torn,
like tear drops in my spotless reservoir;
you'd bathe your feet and course the sails.

Throw yourself in and paddle your stay,
We'll hold your hair, yes, keep you safe.
And from dark waters you can dry the sea
sweet darling, won't you think well of me?

I agree to Abed, your style is definately unique and that is what I like.

I think this poem flows really well and I like the rhymes too, they aren't overused at all, but you managed to come up with something that is used rather rarely.

    Enjoyable read. :)

I really like this poem. I like how it relates to love but has a dark undertone to it. I especially like "And from dark waters you can dry the sea...sweet darling, won't you think well of me?" It's captivating.
