Taking The Road Less Traveled

by Rusheena   Feb 12, 2012

With one hand fading in the darkness, I'll use the other to drag myself out of harm's way

As hopeless as it seems, I'll keep calling for help until my vocal can't make a sound

Even though my legs have stopped working, I'll use what's left of them to get where I'm going

My vision isn't what it used to be, but I'll train my eyes on the light that I can see

The road's so cold and empty, but I know I'm at the right place

I may not be as "street smart" as I should be, but I know where the dangerous places are

And as tempting as it is to cut through an alleyway, I know that it will only lead to a dead end

So I'll focus on the path in front of me until the path is cleared

This journey is killing me, but how can it kill me if I'm already dying?

I'll use what life that's left to reach my destination, even if I die at the threshold

I just want to make it in before the gates are locked

All I need to do now is get up...

Easier the way, greater the fall. Rougher the lane, fewer the bet. Within minority, there's hope.
