A Valentines Poem for Melanie x

That's sweet,

I know this poem holds a great emotional value to you as the author.

But I think it will grab the readers attention if those symbols are taken away, and perhaps, I am not sure if it will work for this piece but perhaps it would benefit if its arrange in stanzas.

Like:

I wish my heart hadn't taken the beating that it did,
I wish I believed in love again as much as when I was a kid,
I wish they hadn't taken all my love and trust away,
so when a girl like you came along I'd show her love all day.

I wish I wasn't running scared; afraid to lose again,
I've lost many on the way including once good friends,
so how can I show you love on this day I only wish that I could,
but I've been cheated many times and now I'm made of wood,

I know at times you take a lot of shit from me to you,
and I know so many times there's not much I can do.
So all I want to say this valentines what you mean to me,
you're everything a guy could want, I only wish that I could see.
