If I scream once or twice in
quick succession, will people come?
I want to scream more, but am too
weak of will. if I scream, will
people run over and see if I am
hurt? or will they just usher their
kids inside? But surely they won't worry,
for they can tell the Difference
between a cry of pain and the
shriek & wail of an anguished mind.
Can't they? Is that why they don't
come? because you can't fix a broken
soul? or are people more sinister
and selfish than first thought?
Is a mental illness the excuse for their
negligence? "I know she was
screaming, but she's crazy--we can't
help her"? But help. help can be
provided. it's the fixing they can't do.
why should they waste time
on something broken, if it
cannot be mended, only consoled?
if I scream with my heart going pitapat,
will anyone concern themselves
with me?
