Enigma

by Jenni Marie   Feb 27, 2012

I am
exceptional
at keeping truth hidden
for I've perfected the art
of silence

Yet, how can this be so
when, continously, I verbalize?
one has to yet notice
only about trivial, materialistic things
so that none can question
what really matters

I am
confident
to the point of arrogance
but only so none can see
the frightened mademoiselle underneath
for that would make me
so very
weak

I am
constantly perfecting the three c's
calm, centered, controlled
only,
none have realized
the war raging inside

I am
an enigma

    Jenni,*

I loved the reference to "the art of silence" it is an art isn't it? It's delicate, beautiful but tragic in sense. It's an art form, the way it comes to you suddenly, out of nowhere and either you're talented at keeping quiet or you're not.

"Yet, how can this be so
    when,"

Personally I'd remove the 'so' as it'll still read the same but make it flow as little better.

    "continuously" = continuously.

    "I am
    confident
    to the point of arrogance"

I actually really liked these lines too. While they were simple the meaning was extremely blunt, so blunt that it contrasted nicely against the next lines nicely. We often speak about how we appear on the outside compared to the inside but not too often will people admit their arrogance.

I think you did an excellent job at yet another challenge. It was interesting to see how you depict yourself and I know you've always had a war within yourself but you should know you're full of amazing things too. Never forget that!
