Apple Blossom Tree; 2

by Anywhere But Here   Feb 27, 2012

I walk down a path
through the park
watching as a senior couple
feeds birds,
as a younger couple
throws bread to the ducks
from their row boat
in the middle of the pond.
I notice
off in the distance,
there is an apple blossom tree,
just beginning to bloom
with a little wooden swing
from one of the branches
hanging on two pieces of rope.
It was the most beautiful thing
I had seen in months.
I walk over
and gently sit on the swing,
wrapping my hands around the
slightly frayed rope
kicking my legs beneath me
allowing me to swing in tune
with the wind.
I listen to the birds chirp,
I swing.
I hear the children playing,
I swing.
I watch the apple blossom
sway with the breeze,
I swing.
I take a deep breath
and let it out.
No longer will I run
because at this moment I know
I have finally come to peace;
all because of an apple blossom tree
and a little wooden swing.
