Congratulations

by Poet on the Piano   Feb 28, 2012

It can take one day
for winter to freeze
my compassion, and I can't
save each breath for you,
I barely have enough
strength to carry on
without falling down
in a dark suit.

In a hour of a day
spring can blow in, unexpected
sunshine that has me
wandering in your memory.
Then, my heart is tossed
around again-
standing untied somewhere
in the back of your car,
I can't find myself if
I am jostled in the confusion
you absently throw near.

I try to get a grip on my lips
try not to bite down,
try to have a stone-set face
when I see the girl start
to move a chair closer....
didn't you used to be moving
closer to me?

Congratulations,
you're on your way
you said no more relationships
until you had the time.

But she laughs and you smile
and she understands all the speeches
of the greatest ones who've walked
the earth.

Go on take her hand,
her eyes are shining for you,
just move on with her

and I'll be
fine.

    MaryAnne,

This is so sad and the way you wrote it makes the reader feel your pain...the betrayal is so evident. He didn't have time for love, while in reality he felt it was time to move on. This must be a boy who is slightly older than you, judging from his actions.

I hope you will overcome this heartbreak fast, hun..I feel he didn't really deserve your beautiful heart anyway.

Well done on wording your emotions,

    *hugs*

    5/5 Ingrid
