Oh Paul, such a beautiful poem.

I love how you have personified Africa as if the country was a person. To me that shows me the depth that you feel about Africa itself. To say that it is your love, I think is beautiful.

I love the title of your poem, My Africa. Simple but I believe it fits the poem really well.

I love how you have incorporated nature into this poem talking about the moon and the sun. What a lovely image, actually this whole poem has lovely images!

The first stanza - quenching your thirst with its warm tasty waters. I simply adore this. It makes me think of the connection between you and your country. That you are both getting something from each other.

I also love the two lines in the third stanza -dying a thousand deaths to live a thousand more years.

That is such dedication and shows me the honour you have in Africa. I love how you talk about ensuring that Africa will have a bright future. It makes me think of how we treat our country and our motherland. If we treat it with care then it will survive anything.

Mother Nature also comes to mind and how we treat her, no matter which country we happen to live in.

A gorgeous poem by you Paul as always!!!
    Loved it!!!

I was somewhat taken aback at this being classified as a love poem but it does seem that way after reading it and don't see why you can't write a love poem for your country. It is different but yet the same as if the poem was written for a person you love. Well done.

    Amazing poem.

While I was reading it, I felt like it was a melody. Its pretty interesting, and to me sounded like a love poem, which its good because it shows your lovely feelings for your Africa. and it makes me think if its the country that you were refering to or someone whose name is Africa. That would be pretty cool.

Paul this is indeed a lovely read :)

    Africa my love
I will caress your springs with delicacy
    and quench my thirst
    in your warm tasty waters

^This opening stanza gives a good picture of the heart warming things your country offers and in a way it allows the reader to view it as "Lady Africa"..like it!

I will hold you in my arms
and whisper songs of hope in your ear
    with my soothing voice while
    I stroke your green crops

^Another lovely picture..kinda like a father telling his child and implanting hope in her heart while cherishing the flourishing beauty!

I will be the sun by day,
    The moon by night
    and die a thousand deaths
so you get to live a thousand more years

^Now this stanza I like very much! Its so genuine and heartfelt and the reader can feel the writer's emotions to be the protector, the savior of his child/land..very nice!

I will assure you of a bright future
    Where peace will flourish
and your glory as the motherland
    will be regained.

^An ending that feeds hope, love and draws the future generation's dreams. Overall, this was a read that really captures the reader's heart for you have made your country into a person giving her feelings. Enjoyed reading it!

God bless you brother. I like your ebullient spirit that's proud to be 'African'. I so much love the idea of using nature and affection as a platform to convey your thoughts. Smooth flow and lovely use of wordings. Proud to be 'African', that's the spirit. Stay blessed.

What a beautiful poem for your country ...

I will assure you of a bright future
    Where peace will flourish
and your glory as the motherland
    will be regained.
// it's hard to find people who genuinely want to help their country rise and prosper. With corruption and other issues burning the country, a sentiment like this required. Very beautiful described. And hope you will be successful in doing so :)

I really admire this poem. When I started reading this piece, at first I was inspired by his love for Africa and felt like it should have been placed in life poems, and as I continued reading, I was applauding his decision to place it in the love poem section.
Paul- Your love for Africa and devotion is felt within each line. I have never been to Africa, but you took me there while I was reading this piece, Beautiful and descriptive images danced in my head. This poem brought tears to my eyes, the love you have for Africa touched me deeply.

    "I stroke your green crops"
    ^^^

This line brought me to a time as a child when I would touch the corn stalks within a corn field, feeling the texture of the leaves, and feeling the love I have for where I was raised.
You captivated me, and at the end of this piece, I felt like standing up and applauding! Well done Paul (7)

Ahh, the "Malaria Belt," an endless source of suffering and famine. The one thing that never runs dry in Africa is the longing.

So your from Africa, thats pretty cool. I can tell that world means a lot to you, and so does mother nature and everything that represents her. I think it cool that you write love poems to her.
