    Yup, rise up and speak.
I like that the reader can feel the author speaking in this poem. How the author gave us parts that were important to him and what he still remembers and I can see that he holds dear. Sitting around a fire and listening to the stories. I also like the message rise up and speak because if you don't then no body will hear.

Oh Paul this is such a powerful poem by you.

The opening stanzas was like a little bit of history about you and Africa. I love the part where the elders told stories because it reminds us the knowledge that gets passed down from the old to the young. It makes me think of history and how we all end up a part of it.

I love the ending though, that was probably the most powerful thing of all. Rise up and speak. Speak about injustice and slavery. I think this is another wonderful poem by you Paul.

    I absolutely LOVED IT!!!

An exemplary piece. That's the problem we're having in our societies. Restraining our voice thus our rights been dominated. I see the subjects bravery to stand up for his or her country; with diligence and determination to make a difference. To stop the manipulation and give rise to a new dawn. Very relatable to me, i love the progression of each stanza in the poem. The stanza where; elders sit with the kids, gathered around the fire gave the piece a beautiful form. A reminder of 'Tales by the Moonlight'. Bravo brother, blessings to you always.

Paul, I can see the group around the fire and the look of awe on younger ones face as the elders tell the stories of the past. If only the younger ones would listen and rise up and speak. That is the way change comes about.

This is a very straight-forward poem which shows a clear meaning. Each word brings a new spark to life, blossoming from the fire kindled in my mind.
Perhaps it's my infatuation with anything of a tribal nature, or perhaps it was your writing, i enjoyed this none-the-less.
    Fantastic :)

Powerful and very, very real. I remembered your memories like they were my own, felt the quiet fury and intention like they were my own, and nodded my head to the final message... like it was meant for me.

I could picture you sitting around the camp fire,
a good lesson learned here is to always listen and take the advice of others, through stories you can learn a lot.
