September 11

I heard the phone ringing
In the darkest hours of day
It seemed to go forever
I thought i was dreaming away
But the ringing did continue
So I reached over for the phone
Lent over for my husband
Forgetting he wasn't home
He was away interstate
He was on a business trip
I thought it got extended
When he didn't arrive at six
But the policeman on the phone
Confirmed my worst fears
My jaw dropped in a state of shock
While eyes welled up in tears
"That is just impossible"
I thought the plane was late
Well actually two terrorists
Had determined my husbands fate
And i turned on the television
To see what going on
On every channel the same thing
World War Three has just begun
I saw the two huge towers
Smoking and burning flame
Commotion and people everywhere
And then i saw another plane
I closed my eyes and hoped
I lent down to God to pray
That my husband didn't get on
Or he missed his flight that day.
But i live with the heartache
Day after day i deal with the pain
I see him in our babies eyes
And know i with him once again.
But i haven't stopped living my life
I wont let those bastards win
The last my husband would've wanted
Was for us to ever give in.
So i hold my faith close
And i treat my beliefs dear
I visit his stone with roses
On Sept 11 every year.
