An Opium Tale

by Ali Koushan   Mar 31, 2012

Shes wrapped in chains
Her breath is cold
Dreaming of a dead man
She cannot hold.

She did all she could
He did all he shouldn't
She begged and prayed, Demons let go
But they wouldn't.

He invited us in
He opened his door
Through his sin.

The breath of life
He hasn't taken
For until he breathe's
He will not awaken.

She prays to God
Let him breathe
Open his eyes Lord
Let him see.

Tell him I am knocking
To let me in
For only if he asks
Can he be saved from sin.

I will lift him up
I will hold him high
I will free his soul
And help him cry.

His hand she takes
Behind all your sin
God's heart breaks
Will you let him in?

Alone I'll be
If you go away
Free yourself from this prison
Unloose my chains.
