Some didn't make it through.
Some have been through it all.
I always sit right here, and pray,
With my head against the wall.
Think about how brave they are,
For fighting for our country.
They have my full attention.
And they're totally trustworthy.
From World War 1, to fighting in Afghanistan.
They aren't worried about genders.
They're all either a woman or a man.
The most depressing part,
Besides losing a soldier.
Is when they come home to their families.
And realize that it's over.
