God brought a ray of sunshine into my life
Brightened up my days, brightened up my nights
I guess after the sun shines some rain must fall
For with sunshine alone we wouldn't grow at all
The sun that nourishes the earth never shines long in one place
The sun that nourished my life now brightens another's space
With rain pouring down and clouds that never disappear
I wait for the return of my sunshine every day of the year
Without my sunshine I now stumble in the dark
Bumping into the despair of my broken heart
There's something I want my sunshine to know
