This is one of those stanza's where your like
"wow why didn't I think of that!" :)

I'm really loving the flow of this poem, and I connected because I have a best friend much like the one you described here.

I like this for being so easily relatable. We all have that friend who's separated from us, and I can feel the longing that you want/need your friend back by your side. In some parts of the poem, the rhymes flowed well, but there are parts where you seemed desperate to rhyme that you sacrifice the meaning just so it will rhyme.
This for example:
"That was how our journey began,
Friendship, the journey of happiness and
gain."
---'Gain' was clumsily written, and it's not a perfect rhyme for 'began'

""Yanzi, how long should I wait?" asked I,
"I'll be back soon," you answered with a
cry."
---I like this part. It made the poem more personal, yet for the topic you've presented, it was relatable. It's really hard to say goodbye and the emotion a person gets from that have been beautifully penned here by adding your conversation with your friend. I like that.
Overall, the emotional impact won over the poem. Keep writing

I truly hope Yanzi comes back.
I too remember my College days when you walk into a room knowing no one, and the others seem to know each other. You do feel so very alone so I do sympathise!
