Holy Words

by Michael D Nalley   Apr 8, 2012

The bible is not a sword,
but Romans crucified Christ.
Because priest knew not their Lord,
they demanded that He be sacrificed.

In catacombs Christians hid
until the reign of Constantine,
who was called to do His bid.
A providence from the divine

Power was then restored in Rome,
yet no authority escapes corruption
where human nature is at home
among rebellion and erruption.

As in Milton's Paradise lost
history is so often repeated.
Though our saviour paid the cost,
Judgment awaits where He is seated.

This is a great poem. I like how you incorporated 'the bible, Romans, Christians, Constantine'.. in this piece. Then I like how you likened repeating history to John Milton's 'Paradise Lost' love that piece.

    Great write 5/5 :)
