Trayvon

by Michael D Nalley   Apr 8, 2012

Down the rainy street he walked
He noticed he was being stalked
He looked at his profiler well
As he was talking on his cell
The vigilante said he is acting strange
To a dispatcher taking his exchange
He complained these as-holes get away
But this one will not today
The neighbors heard the cry
Of the one that was about to die
The shot was heard around the world
As the media confusion swirled
The vigil candles will not go out
As long as there is any kind of doubt
Of who had the right to stand their ground
Where all truthful answers can be found

Thanks for doing what poets do. Shed light on society and the human condition in general
You are a good writer. I am not sure I could have approached this subject. Thanks.

This is a very sad story, well written. Nobody will ever find out what truly happened.

What a sad but, beautifully written tribute to Trayvon. Our president, in my forum composed a poem about Trayvon's incidence, and posted it on the listserve for we members, of the writers forum. I didn't know it was about a real incidence. I just gave my comment, thinking its just another poem. His response to my insightful comments, drew me to the realisation of the pathetic case of Trayvon. He posted a link that further gave me the hint to his source of inspiration to his poem. His case is like that of many teenagers in America whom get killed due to racism and precarious lifestyles of most youths in their society. I hope in due course the rampant gory cases of such will be reduced. May his soul rest in peace, Amen. A very terrific and emotive piece Mike. Bon Travail!!!
