And The Award Goes To..

by Girl of Conviction   Apr 9, 2012

You see the smile of a girl,
so sweet and innocent,
little do you know,
what really lies beneath.

She hates going to school,
hearing hurtful words from her peers,
sending her home everyday in tears.
Still this girl puts on an act like
everything's okay,
shes been doing this for years,
but it's different today.

You see today she lost someone she loved so dear,
it was her dad, she just couldn't put up
this act anymore, today she was just too sad.
She feels so alone, and doesnt seem to care,
life to her just hasn't been fair.

Still she's afraid to let anyone in or show them who she really is,
so she'll continue on this act for as long as she lives.
It's her fathers funeral today and it's starting to rain,
broken, hurt, depressed, a girl full of pain.
Yet she refuses to cry, no emotion on her face,
staring with a blank expression, staring into space.

Bravo she did it, no one can see her pain,
especially since shes crying alone in the rain.
People walking past her, saying how sorry they are,
she wants her dad more then ever, but now
he's just too far.

She'll continue on with her life, wearing a smile that fools so many people,
she'll say everything is okay when her worlds falling apart,
if only you can see the pain, the scars on her heart.

And the award goes to this girl,
she fooled them all,
for many years she's
put up a wall.
Knowing that once she
lets someone in,
no more hiding behind
her sacred grin.

Very heartbreaking. Life isn't fair at times.
Walking around with a mask, smiling, hiding the pain. It has fooled many people. 5/5

"if only you can see the pain, the scars on her
    heart."
I really like this part.. So heart-breaking.

I hope you're not writing this for your own loss. I know how hard it is to lose someone. This is another great piece, Tammi. Certainly one of your best :) 5/5

I see this as a song :] esp that last part, I would love to hear it played..wonder how the notes would be!

A very sad piece, described the situation of many girls and boys at a certain level, the only thing that i know is, no body needs to realize we're there, for us to be happy and proud, love starts from lovig our ownselves 1st, if we cant love ourselves we cant love nor be loved.

dont expect nice gestures nor kindess from someone who lacks it, who doesnt have..cannot give.

well done! smie in your opening line, should be smile?
