Mick Mack's Squad

by Robert Healy   Apr 13, 2012

Me Granny she was Irish
Me Granddad came from Wales
Me mother born in Liverpool
With the Beatles all the rage
Me father was Italian
It's where I got me skills
In his chipper up in Glasgow
I was born and he was thrilled.

Well I could have played for England
For Scotland or for Wales.
Oh, I could have played for Italy
Where football's all the rage
But I chose the Emerald Isle
Where the grass is green and soft
And the people here in Ireland
Are the best with their support

I'm now in Mick McCarthy's squad
I'm dressed in all the green
I woke up Wednesday morning
Sure I thought it was a dream
When the phone beside the bed it rang
And Mick said you're the man
To lead the team to victory
In Korea and Japan.
He's playing me centre forward
Eamon Dumphy at the back
No weakest link in the Irish team
George Hamilton in attack
John Giles in the middle
And Ray Houghton has returned
Me father still has nightmares
But Ray Houghton he has none.

Beat the Spanish in the semis'
And the Brazilians for the cup
We'll take it back to Ireland
And all Ireland will go nuts.
A dream that we have always dreamt
Will finally come true
And the rest of the world will look at us
And say well done...well done...well done to you.
Up Ireland.

This is good! I like the rhythm in it. The whole time I was shouting "GO IRELAND!"

    Excellent job! 5/5
