Self Dreaming

The way I see myself
is the same way that
you look at me,

only a thousand times
worse.

But...

When I close my eyes,
just for a moment,
I get the chance to
become someone
else.

Perhaps someone
that you want.

A woman who is able
to hide her masculinity
through her physique
and embrace her
femininity and fertility
within her womb.

With a child like heart
and untouched beauty,
a smile that could melt
the coldest soul and a
reflection that would not
make my head turn
in disgust.

The tighter I close my eyes,
the easier it is to dream
and the harder it is for
the tears to fall -

and in this dream...

I am beautiful.

    I do the same thing. how im always left, thinkin she must be prettier than me. but then i try not to think about it nd say who cares..im probably purely beautiful more than her on the inside or unlike her..but thats impossible nd its hard to think like this bc the lost man of my dreams is getting married to her.

    i cant believe you do this too..or thought of it.

    ^^ I really like that stanza, thats how I feel about writing. I can be someone else when I write, and usually that requires me to close my eyes and put myself in a different place.

    I loved the rest of this poem! Truthfully I think this is soooo relate-able to so many people, because often us humans get down on ourselves and can't find beauty anywhere in us, however there really is so much beauty inside every person and its going to take other people to lift you up to help you realize it...

    You are beautiful. And so is your poetry :)

    I love this, You are beautiful,

    and I love how everyone said so cuz it's true. . . and I absolute loved this poem, the opening was fantastic .. it was so sorrowful. . :( but it was a good poem. there was some definitely raw emotions in this.. It got even more sad when you say you close your eyes and see a glimpse of that, that's a glimpse of hope and you can go there. . loved this one :)

    You have touched on a subject that hits every woman... The way you elegantly wrote this powerful and heartfelt piece, just gripped me... Within a woman is a treasure -Its beautiful, so are you and so is this sad and touching poem- ( it deserves to be highlighted. nomination- (tomorrow) :-)

    Liz, you are beautiful.

    I don't know if I understood the poem correctly but according to how I understood it, I will comment.

    You are a beauty not only in the outside but also in the inside. I like this piece because it shows that we all have some type of insecurity that makes us feel somehow bad about us rather that puts our self esteem down, but really. You are beautiful, not only in dreams. I like dreaming and closing my eyes most of the times, the images are better in my own little space but it's a lot better when I see it in reality. So I hope you can open your eyes to see the beauty that you posses and not just see within the dream. :)

    Captivating piece, that leaves the reader thinking and also feeling the emotion that the author portrayed.
