This Silence Is Deafening

by Misfit Silentts   Apr 16, 2012

I carry this book
to hide from the looks
of sorrow and greif and pain.
All these blank stares
can't hide the despair
as we gather today in the rain.

Our faces can't mask it
as they lower your casket
into the hollow ground.
Outside we're quiet.
Our insides a riot.
Nobody makes a sound.

The ending to me was well-written. You took me back to the day they lowered my dad's casket, that it was so quiet, if someone were to drop a needle you'd hear the sound when it hits the pavement.. Really amazing piece. Keep writing :)
