Spiritual Preparations

by Sherry Lynn   Apr 18, 2012

I am Your warrior
Standing firm in Your spirit
Preparing for battle like no other
Spiritual warfare that many cannot fathom

A soldier goes forth and scouts enemy ground
I shall go quietly and scout Your word
A soldier comes and gives his report
I shall bow down and silently pray

A soldier listens intently to his commander
I patiently wait in silence for Your still voice
A soldier puts on his armor for battle
Your rod and Your staff shall protect me

For it is You, o' God
Who shall prepare my way
It is You, o' God
Who will lead me and keep me safe

As a soldier battles a fleshly war
I will take up my sword
And fight battles of the spirit
Neither can be triumphant without You o' Lord

Amazing Sherry...!!! such a soulful poem... Very deterministic and an ardent lover of God is what you portray and about what his ways preach you...:)
I felt that my view reflected through your thoughts and painted in your poem...:)

So true... we are created for fulfilling his purpose and need to battle to survive as his best person on earth..

A soldier goes forth and scouts enemy ground
I shall go quietly and scout Your word

I shall bow down and silently pray

Your Poem is beautiful Sherry Lynn and is heartwarming at the same time. There is a remnant and there is a fight.

I shall go quietly and scout your words
I shall bow down and silently pray
I patiently wait in silence of Your still voice
I can never be triumphant without you O'Lord

I am in awe of your words and reminded of

    Ephesians Chapter 6 Verse 12
"We wrestle not against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against the rulers
of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high places".

    Peace and Blessings

    "I am Your warrior
    Standing firm in Your spirit
Preparing for battle like no other
Spiritual warfare that many cannot fathom"
Imagery and emotion are so amazing in this stanza.

"A soldier goes forth and scouts enemy ground
I shall go quietly and scout Your word
A soldier comes and gives his report
I shall bow down and silently pray"

I like the imagery here as well so far a great write.

"As a soldier battles a fleshly war
I will take up my sword
And fight battles of the spirit
Neither can be triumphant without You o' Lord " I feel this stanza was forced I think the poem could have ended with out it but the poem was still really good!

That really took my breaths away, Sherry. It really shows how much faith you have in God and how deep He means to you. I love those poems that speak of stuff like this. They just leave me breathless.

'Spiritual warfare that many cannot fathom'

I found this line the most interesting. So true and held some profound meanings.

    Good poetry!
