Tonight

by Nil   May 7, 2012

Her pale skin glows in the dark
Sitting at the edge of her bed
She is alone again
Like every night
Her fragile self disguised in
Revealing negligee
A soft sigh escapes her lips
She can't sleep again
A click and the lights come on
A few steps to the closet
She bends over to take out
A bottle of comfort
Take a shot
Then another
Then a sip of water
A click and the lights go off
And she slips back into her shell
For the night, she is warm
Her mind is numb
Her eyes close
Tonight she'll sleep alone again

Shells seem to be the only comfort as well as a bottle.
